The ARCO Project is an independent non-profit company based in South Africa. We are in the process of applying for Public Benefit Organisation status which will enable ARCO to become a Tax Exempt Institution.

Supporting the young violinists, violists, cellists and double bassists from Prince Albert will make a huge difference to their career trajectories, social engagement and overall educational development. There are several ways that you can make a gift.

Our Patrons are ARCO’s lead benefactors, whose support forms the bedrock of our organisation’s sustainability, resilience, and innovation. Your support will help us to realise our commitment to transforming the lives of young South Africans through high level music education.

The ARCO Project is providing outstanding instrumental tuition within one of the most remote and previously disadvantaged communities in South Africa. Although ARCO is offering tuition on Western instruments, its musical focus is entirely on using indigenous, and more specifically Afrikaans music, with which to teach. As a Patron, your support helps to underpin all areas of our artistic and educational programme, enabling us to provide innovative and life-changing opportunities to young learners. In return, you will become part of a vibrant community right at the heart of our project with invitations to exclusive Patron events and personal contact with our most rapidly developing learners and their teachers.
Patron
With an annual gift of £450-£5,000 (R10,000-R119,000) you will enjoy unique opportunities to get closer to our work with:
- An invitation and tickets to our annual Kaleidoscope Chamber Music Festival held in Prince Albert in the month of August (Kaleidoscope is a brand-new festival held in Prince Albert created as a fundraising arm for the ARCO project. From 2026 Kaleidoscope will be the first all South African Classical Music Festival)
- An opportunity to choose a concert within the festival that would enable you to have “naming rights”
Silver Patron
With an annual gift of R120,000-R239,000 (£5,000-£9,999)
- An invitation and tickets to our annual Kaleidoscope Chamber Music Festival held in Prince Albert in the month of August with free accommodation for the weekend (Kaleidoscope is a brand-new festival held in Prince Albert created as a fundraising arm for the ARCO project. From 2026, Kaleidoscope will be the first all South African Classical Music Festival)

With an annual gift of R240,000 or more (£10,000 or more)

- An invitation to a closed workshop with ARCO students to see the work first-hand

- Once a year, gold patrons will be invited to an intimate, elegant evening hosted by the Board Chair and ARCO Director Louise Lansdown
Our Gold Patrons are ARCO’s lead benefactors, whose foundational support forms the bedrock of our organization’s sustainability, resilience, and innovation. With an annual donation of R240,000 (£10,000) or more, our Gold Patrons sit right at the heart of the ARCO community. We enjoy working closely with individual Gold Patrons to understand which areas of our work most inspire them, crafting unique experiences to recognise their gift – from private invitations to observe our creative process, to special access and opportunities to meet our artistic, teaching and learning team.
Gold Patrons often choose to direct their giving to a specific area of our work; recent bespoke areas of support have included recordings, commissions, marketing, instrument and sheet music resources, transport to lessons, concert, and core running costs. In addition to gaining special access to our boldest projects, Gold Patrons also enjoy all of the other Patron and Silver Patron benefits listed above.

You can invest in ARCO’s future by leaving a gift in your will. Legacy gifts are affordable, simple to arrange, and one of the most significant ways to support our work.

Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most significant ways you can support ARCO’s work. It is easy to arrange and will have lasting impact. Your gift will:
- Invest in ARCO’s ambitious music education model
- Open doors to the joys of music making and community for young students in previously disadvantaged areas
- Share the joy of music with our audiences through our concerts
How does my gift help?
ARCO is a charity. Ticket sales and concert fees currently cover 70% of the income we need each year. The rest is made up from grants, statutory funding, individual donations and gifts in wills. As we look to the future and increase the ambition of our work, we will need more support.
How can I give?
Once you have taken care of your loved ones’ needs, it is very simple to add ARCO as a beneficiary to your will. You could leave:
- a percentage share of your estate, once other gifts and payments have been made. This is known as a residuary gift and can be a percentage of your choice.
- a specific cash gift. The value of your cash gift will not keep up with inflation, so its value may decrease over time.
We are very grateful for gifts of any type and size. Your gift to ARCO will be exempt from inheritance tax and may reduce the inheritance tax payable on your estate – please ask your solicitor for advice.
Is it affordable?
Yes. Even 1% of your estate will make a real difference to ARCO’s future – and those closest to you will inherit the rest. Remembering ARCO in your will is simple to arrange and is one of the most generous ways you can support us.
